Bayou Bowl set for Saturday

The ninth Bayou Bowl football all-star game matches a team of Louisiana stars against a Texas team made up of players from the Houston area.

The annual event is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 11 at Stallworth Stadium in Baytown, Texas.

Local players set to participate include quarterback Leon Blouin of Dutchtown, defensive back Shaquille Lewis of Dutchtown and kicker Justin Manton of St. Amant.

Loranger coach Sam Messina will serve as head coach for the Louisiana team.

Donaldsonville High head coach Terence Williams will be among the assistants. St. Amant’s Scott Arceneaux will serve as one of the trainers.

The Bayou Bowl is a non-profit game that raises monies each year for youth athletic scholarships.

Each state will field 40 players who will check in for the game week activities June 7.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and can be purchased at the gate or online at www.bayoubowl.org.
