LHSAA votes in favor of official pay raises

Staff reports

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association approved pay raises for officials in seven sports during a special meeting held Friday afternoon at Woodlawn High.

The change came five months after rejecting proposed pay raises.

A total of 105 principals from throughout the state attended the meeting. They approved pay raises starting in 2011-12 for football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, wrestling and soccer officials.

The proposal also set certification guidelines for football, basketball, baseball and softball officials that are tied to levels of pay.

At least 97 principals were needed in order to conduct a vote.
