Seminar helps local firms with disasters
Ascension Parish businesses can learn how to prepare, survive and recover from a disaster at a Disaster Preparedness Seminar being offered by the Small Business Development Center @ LSU in partnership with the Ascension Economic Development Corporation, the Ascension Chamber of Commerce, and the Donaldsonville Area Chamber of Commerce. The session is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. June 14th at the Gonzales Branch of the Ascension Parish Library located at 709 Irma Blvd.
The workshop is designed to educate and assist companies in how to prepare, survive and recover from a disaster. Companies need to give the same amount of attention to protecting their business investment as they do in protecting their families and homes. Companies should have a plan in place whether in the event of a fire, flood, hurricane, chemical spill or other unforeseen catastrophic event. Businesses need to protect their investment, and offer support to their employees, customers, suppliers and the local economy.
The half-day seminar will include lessons learned from the hurricanes of 2005 and 2008. Speakers will provide recommended preparedness and response actions that a company should take to insure minimal impact and quick recovery. Speakers will cover legal, insurance, accounting, information security, communications and supply chain management.
