Each year, members of the statewide press services wait with baited breath to see who wins awards at the annual Louisiana Press Association Awards Ceremony.

Papers from across the state compete all year. They make attempts at creative and informative stories, combined with interesting layouts for readers.

Recently, the Gonzales Weekly Citizen was honored by winning two first place honors: The 2010 Best Classified Section or Page and the 2010 Best News or Feature Photo.

Publisher Glenn Stifflemire is proud of all the paper is achieving.

“I’m fortunate to have a staff who work hard to get the best product out to local residents that we possibly can. It’s a great team.”

Ensuring that Ascension Parish news, sports and community events are covered both timely and well, are important to all staff at the paper.

Staff at the Gonzales Weekly Citizen are already thinking of new ways to improve, and are asking that everyone pick up a copy on Tuesday and again on Friday,  for the weekend edition, and let them know your thoughts.

Serving you, the community, is our business.
