LHSCA announces 2011 clinic speakers, agenda

The LHSCA Coaches Clinic will be held July 19–21 at the Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge.

There is no cost to attendees and participants. The complete agenda is available on the LHSAA website. This year’s clinic will include workshops and speakers for football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, soccer, softball, track & field, powerlifting and wrestling.

The clinic will feature some of the top coaches in the country including NIKE speaker Nikki Caldwell of the LSU women’s basketball program. Along with Caldwell, the clinic agenda has on slate the Texas A & M football staff, Tim Floyd of University of Texas - El Paso, Patrick Murphy and Alyson Habetz of the University of Alabama softball program, as well as the newly appointed Head Football Coach of University of Louisiana – Lafayette, Mark Hudspeth.

Once again, the football and volleyball coaches will have the opportunity to attend their sports mandatory rules clinics during the coaching clinic and the softball coaches will have an opportunity to attend a seminar on the power ranking system that they will be using for the 2012 season.

Also, this year’s clinic will provide an opportunity for coaches to learn more about concussions and the dangers of steroids as Derrick Edwards, Attorney at Law will be discussing concussions, and Donald Hooton of the Taylor Hooton Foundation will be giving a lecture on the dangers of steroids.
