Donaldsonville man dies from injuries
Ascension Parish Chief Deputy Tony Bacala reported the death of an elderly Donaldsonville man.
On the morning of April 22, 92-year-old Versie Dunn was found unresponsive in his driveway on West 3rd Street in Donaldsonville. He lived alone in his home and was to turn 93 on May 18
A preliminary investigation suggested that Dunn sustain injuries from a fall. He was immediately hospitalized for injuries to the left side of his head, shoulder and hip.
Even though Dunn’s medical records reflect that his injuries are consistent with a fall it is still undetermined if Dunn fell accidentally or someone pushed him to the ground, Bacala said.
The Dunn family told authorities that Dunn was known to carry a large amount of cash on him.
When Dunn was found authorities discovered that he had no cash on him and his wallet was missing.
Authorities state that it is a possibility that Dunn was pushed and robbed but that cannot be confirmed. In addition, it cannot be confirmed that he had a wallet or money on him at the time of his fall.
At this juncture of the investigation, multiple canvasses have been conducted in the area of Dunn’s home in an effort to obtain more details. A number of individuals have also been interviewed in hopes of gathering more facts of the death investigation.
While still hospitalized on May 5, after developing additional complications caused from the initial fall, Dunn succumb to his injuries.
With the possibility of foul play being involved, the Sheriff's Office is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that leads to a conclusive determination regarding the cause and circumstances of Dunn’s death.
