Donaldsonville girls, boys basketball teams advance in Class 2A playoffs

DONALDSONVILLE?– Three Donaldsonville players scored in double figures as the Tigers topped District 7-2A rival East Feliciana in the first round of the Class 2A boys basketball playoffs.

Lorenzo Collins led the way with 24 points for the third-seeded Tigers. Quentin Bernard followed with 18 points, while Devin Breaux added 15 in the winning effort.

Donaldsonville improved to a 28-3 record.

The Tigers will host Red River in the second round.

In girls action, Donaldsonville clinched a berth in the Top 28 with a 65-54 win over Oakdale Thursday night.

The top-seeded Tigers (30-1) head to the semifinals for the first time since 2008.

Kayla Mollere led the Tigers with 24 points. Kendra Coleman and Bianca Harvey each scored 16.
