RRAA March into Art show looking for young artists

March is dedicated to the Creative Youth of Louisiana as River Region Art Association announces the 2011 “March into Art” Show for age divisions 12-17 and 11 and under. Prizes and ribbons are awarded for each age group.

Four Categories include: Painting, Drawing. Photography & Three Dimensional Art. Entry fee is $1 per piece of art with a limit of two pieces per student per category. No specific subject matter. Art must be framed and wired for hanging.

Take in for the art will be Thursday, March 3, Friday March 4, and Saturday, March 5. The River Region Art Center in Gonzales is open to receive the entries from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. each of those days. Teachers are welcome to bring in group entries from their schools. The entry form can be printed from the RRAA website at www.artqumbo.org or they will be available at the Art Center. A special Louisiana Art Spirit Award is presented to the school with the most participation showing spirit for the ARTS! All schools are eligible. A nice perk for the winners this year will be having their art displayed for public viewing at Community Coffee in Prairieville and Barnes & Noble Bookstore at Perkins Rowe in Baton Rouge throughout April.
