Eddie Jiarrusso from Bayou Villa in Gonzales was the first food bearer to support the Gonzales Weekly Citizen’s food drive. Jiarrusso brought an entire bag of groceries into the office on Wednesday afternoon.

Wednesday afternoon saw the giving spirit alive and well in Gonzales.

Eddie Jiarrusso stopped into the Gonzales Weekly Citizen office to drop off a bag of groceries to aid our From the Heart Food Drive.

Jiarrusso said that both he and his wife find it important to help each other within the community.

“We read about the food drive in the paper,” said Jiarrusso. “We felt like helping was the right thing to do, and we try to help as much as we can.”

The Weekly Citizen kicked off the food drive on Feb. 1, and the event will last until the end of February. All goods received will be taken to the St. Theresa of Avila food bank, where it will be distributed to those in need within our parish.
