Actress and producer Shanna Forrestall visits with children at the Blind School in the rural Dang Forest during a recent trip to the school for the filming of a promotional film for the Namaste Project School.

Ascension Parish native and actress and film producer Shanna Forrestall recently returned from India where she was part of a five-person film crew filming a promotional film to aid three schools in Navsari.

The goal is to promote schools devoted to helping and healing children with learning disabilities and other handicaps.

The film is being edited to capture the spirit of the Indian schools and their programs, and to aid in plans for their expansion.

The project was funded in part by Ascension Parish resident and hotelier Aaron Patel and his son Sagar, who have contributed to the schools.

A 10 to 20 minute film piece, as well as a 1-minute spot for school website use will be produced for the schools.

The five-person film team which traveled to India included, top row, Shanna Forrestall, Han Soto, and Merrill Capps; bottom row, Alex Willson, Shri “Mahesh” Kothari, founder of the schools which the team was doing a film piece on; and Kristi Prewitt.
