Martin Luther King Jr. events throughout the parish

In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr., here is a listing of events in Ascension Parish.

Gonzales:

The Christian Assembly Full Gospel Church is holding a celebration Monday, Jan. 17. The service begins at 7 p.m. at the church on Hwy. 941. For more information, call 225 644-0416.

Darrow:

The Darrow Community Center Women’s Auxiliary is hosting its annual Martin Luther King Jr. program on Monday, Jan. 17. The event starts at 9:30 a.m. Marchers will make their way from the Darrow Post Office to the Community Center. At 10 a.m., the celebrations will continue with tributes to Dr. King inside the center.

Donaldsonville:

The River Road African American Museum will honor Dr. King with a program on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 2 p.m., at True Friends Hall Park on Lessard St. The program will begin with a gathering of both current and former residents of the museum’s Freedom School, and Harambee Program. Following the program, there will be a showing of the film “Let FreedomRing.” Volunterers are needed. For more information call 225 474-5553 or 225 206-1225.
