Donaldsonville drug bust yields five arrests

Five men were arrested in Donaldsonville Wednesday night after the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at 917 St. Patrick St.
Chief Deputy Tony Bacala said four persons in the residence grabbed items, including a bag, and attempted to flee the residence.
One man, Farren Gomez, 29, allegedly ran out the side door of the house and was seen throwing a bag to the ground just prior to being taken in custody. Narcotics detectives located nearly 20 bags of marijuana and nearly 15 bags of crack cocaine in the discarded bag, according to Bacala.
Three of the men, Michael Chatman, 30, of 212 Claiborne St., Donaldsonville; Jason Nicholas, 31, of 6205 Field Street in Marrero; and Kevin Fisher, 30, of 521 St. Patrick St., Donaldsonville, were found by detectives in the bathroom of the home, along with baggies of marijuana and crack cocaine, Bacala said.
Detectives also found nearly thirty bags of marijuana in the bathroom toilet of the house, Bacala said.
Additional marijuana, a digital scale and a surveillance camera were also found in the living room, according to Bacala.
Arrested were:
• Gomez, of 917 St. Patrick St.; charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and resisting an officer.
• Chatman was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, a bench warrant for failure to appear in court, and as a fugitive from St. James Parish.
• Fisher was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.
• Nicholas was charged with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
• Corey Bell, 33, of 518 Catherine St., Donaldsonville; charged with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
The suspects are currently incarcerated in the Ascension Parish Jail in Donaldsonville, according to police.
