Roddy Road clearing, grubbing to begin

Staff reports

A portion of Roddy Road will be undergoing clearing and grubbing on both sides of the roadway in the next two weeks as part of the Ascension Parish Road Improvement Project, according to project officials.

This is the first step the Parish is taking for this improvement project and it will extend from a point 500 feet south of Highway 621, northward to the intersection with Highway 931.

This portion of the project is slated for completion by early April, 2011, project officials said. It will include the removal of trees, shrubs, undergrowth and above ground structures (except utilities – gas, water, electric, cable TV) from the right-of-way.

Officials said traffic control signs will be posted in the construction area with a 25 m.p.h. speed limit.

Project surveyors will be surveying the areas affected along Roddy Road. Property plats will define exactly where the right-of-way line is for each resident’s property and wooden stakes and surveyor’s tape will be used, officials said.  Residents are asked not to disturb these markers.
