Troopers investigate interstate accident in Ascension Parish
An accident took place along Interstate 10 this morning near milepost 170 in Ascesnion Parish.
Louisiana State PoliceTroop A investigated the crash involving two cars, and revealed that Tammy Taylor, 42, of Port Allen was heading eastbound along I-10 when she ran off of the interstate. Her 2009 Honday Civic slid across the median, and went on to the westbound lane of I-10 traffic, and into the path of a 2004 Honda Pilot. Linda Morgan, 53, of Metarie, the driver of the Pilot, ran into the Civic’s driver’s side door.
Taylor was taken by Acadian Ambulance to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, where she is suffering from life-threatening injuries. Morgan was treated at the scene after sustaining only minor injuries.
It is not thought that alcohol has played a role in the accident, nonetheless, a sample fo Taylor’s blood has been sent for chemical analysis to the Louisiana State Police Crime lab. Morgan had no detectable alcohol in her system upon voluntarilly submitting a breath sample to State Troopers.
The crash remains under investigation, and it is not currently known what caused Taylor to run off of the road. Anyone with information that may be useful is requested to contact Troop A at 754-8500.
