Santa plans Galvez-Lake fire station stops

Staff reports

Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Department will hold it’s annual Christmas Caroling event with a twist  this year.

Instead of going neighborhood-to-neighborhood, Santa and Mrs. Claus plan to come to the Galvez – Lake Fire Station, located at 16288 Joe Sevario Road, in Prairieville.

The dates and times are Monday, Dec.13  through Friday, Dec.17 from 6 – 9 p.m.,  and Saturday, Dec. 18 from 1 – 5 p.m.

Volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food items, new unwrapped toys and monetary donations.

Pictures with Santa and Mr. Claus will be taken. Each family will receive one free picture.  Each picture thereafter will be $5 with the proceeds going to the monetary donations.

Hot chocolate will be served.

Plate dinners will be served each night for $5 a plate.

A drive-thru will be in place for anyone just wanting to make a donation and/or purchase dinner without taking pictures.

Parking will be available for those taking pictures.

All proceeds and monies collected will go toward purchasing perishable food items and gifts for the families, whose names come from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s office.

In past years we have helped as many as four families at once with the help of our generous community.
