Veterans Day poster contest recognized at Parish Council meeting

Winners of this years’ Ascension Parish Veterans Day Poster Contest were recognized during the Ascension Parish Council meeting on Nov. 18.

 The Veterans Day Celebration Poster Contest was sponsored by the Gonzales Memorial Post 3693 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Chapter 725 of the Viet Nam Veterans and the Ascension Republican Women.

 Parish President Tommy Martinez presented first-place winner Landon DeBate with a certificate of achievement and a cash prize of $100. Second-place winner Bryan Palma earned his certificate of achievement and a $75 cash prize. Both students are 9th-graders at St. Amant High School. They received certificates of achievement, as well as, cash prizes from the Ascension Republican Women for their winning entries of Veterans Day themes.

 Diane Cosenza, recording secretary with the Ascension Republican Women, was chairman of the contest.
