Volleyball teams advance to state quarterfinals

Kenner bound

Dutchtown and St. Amant claimed wins Monday night in the regional Division I-Class 5A playoffs.

In Division V-Classes 1A and below, Ascension Catholic was victorious as well.

The quarterfinal matches were scheduled for Thursday at the Ponchartrain Center in?Kenner.

Matches will continue through Saturday with the finals set for 7 p.m.

St. Amant 3, Barbe 0

No. 4 seed St. Amant took a 3-0 win over No. 13 Barbe, 25-11, 25-18, 25-19.

Brooke deVeer led the Gators with 10 kills and 2 blocks. Elena Villar notched 6 kills, 1 assist and 5 digs. Emma Key tallied 6 kills, 2 aces and 6 digs. Sami Marchand finished with 3 kills, 20 assists, 5 aces and 9 digs.

Shelbie Reed led Barbe with 9 kills, 18 digs and 1 ace. Taylor Goree had 5 kills, 15 digs and 1 ace. Taylor Thibodeaux notched 1 kill, 1 block, 1 ace and 17 assists.

St. Amant improved to a 30-12, 10-0 record. Barbe finished with a 21-7, 10-2 record.

St. Amant faced Mandeville Thursday at 5 p.m.

Dutchtown 3, Slidell 1

No. 6 Dutchtown took a 3-1 win over No. 11 Slidell, 25-21, 19-25, 25-13, 25-23.

Ryan Hamilton compiled 37 assists for the Griffins. Brooke Bahlinger finished with 13 kills and 15 digs. Kristen Jones had 12 kills and 7 blocks. Jodi Hill recorded 18 kills and 8 blocks. Hayden Wood had 15 digs. Sydney Loupe finished with 3 aces.

Quinci Hayward led Slidell with 24 kills. Sarah Tate had 34 assists. Whitney Campbell finished with 12 digs. Brittany Warren had 2 aces.

Dutchtown improved to 29-11.

Dutchtown took on Fontainebleau at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

ACHS 3, Northside 0

No. 4 Ascension Catholic defeated No. 13 Northside Christian, 25-13, 25-14, 25-19.

Ascension Catholic met Ascension Episcopal at 10 a.m. Thursday.
