St. Elizabeth holds annual community health fair

The health fair featured more than100 booths where participants could obtain health information and free screenings including blood pressure, cholesterol, EKG’s, lung function, blood sugar, skin cancer, BMI, as well as provided flu shots.

St. Elizabeth Hospital recently held its 8th Annual Community Health Fair sponsored by the Women’s Advisory Council of St. Elizabeth Hospital at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.

The event was sponsored by St. Elizabeth Physicians and Our Lady of the Lake RMC.

The health fair featured more than 100 booths where participants could obtain health information and free screenings including blood pressure, cholesterol, EKG’s, lung function, blood sugar, skin cancer, BMI, as well as provided flu shots. The health fair has experienced tremendous growth in past several years, the hospital said in a release.

President and CEO, Dee LeJeune said the Health Fair was a huge success because of the TEAM effort.

“It was absolutely wonderful seeing everyone come together to live our Mission by serving those most in need.,” she said.  “The feedback from everyone was wonderful, awesome, and great.”

Activities were set up for children such as free face painting, space walks and trick-or-treating.

Center Stage Performing Arts Academy provided entertainment. Other events held in conjunction with the health fair were chair massages, pet adoption, jewelry and accessories show provided by Simply Susan, garage sale, as well as a jambalaya cook-off contest.  

All proceeds of the Community Health Fair benefit the St. Elizabeth Hospital Endowment Fund.

Nurses were available for visitors to the health fair to chat with about health concerns.
