Prairieville’s K’Von Albert wins gold medals in Special Olympics games

K’Von Albert of Prairieville represented the area in the 2010 Special Olympics USA?National Games in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The Special Olympics Louisiana sent a delegation of 83 to the games.

Team Louisiana brought home: 40 gold, 25 silver, and 13 bronze medals, as well as, 13 fourth, ten fifth, six sixth and two seventh place ribbons.

The Capital Area came home with four gold medals. The Capital Area Delegation included Coach Joseph Albert Jr. from Prairieville.

K’Von won the gold medal in the 100m wheelchair race and the softball throw.

There were some  3,000 athletes and 1,000 coaches and delegates from all 50 states at the 2010 National Games. This was the largest sporting event ever held in Nebraska and one of the largest sporting event held in the United States in 2010.
