Gonzales Americans advance, Nationals drop two in Dixie Youth World Series

The visitors were not gracious to the two Gonzales host teams once competition began Saturday in the Dixie Youth World Series.

In the 9-10 year olds division, Tennessee’s Goodlettsville Americans handed the Gonzales Nationals a 5-0 loss. Later that evening, in the 11-12 year olds division, Alabama’s Smiths Station topped the Gonzales Americans, 4-2.

In Sunday play, Virginia’s Charlotte County claimed an 11-1 win over the Americans.

The Nationals bounced back Sunday with a 16-4 victory over Georgia’s Troup County Americans.

Louisiana’s Oberlin took a pair of wins over the weekend:?6-2 over Virginia and 4-1 over Alabama.

Georgia’s Troup County also notched a couple of wins, beating South Carolina 13-3 and Tennessee 3-1.

North Carolina’s Lumberton notched an 11-0 shutout against Texas’ Tyler County, and topped Florida’s Springhill 8-4.

In 9-10 year olds play, Louisiana’s Shreveport blasted Florida’s Bushnell 11-1 and topped Alabama’s Taylorville 8-3.

Tennessee’s Goodlettsville followed its 5-0 win over Gonzales with a 15-9 victory over Arkansas’s Ashdown.

South Carolina’s Lexington downed Mississippi’s Laurel Jones County 8-5 and Texas’s Hudson 3-0.
