Overturned truck stops traffic

An 18-wheeler carrying 47,000 pounds of bricks to Economy Brick on Edenborn Street in Gonzales overturned shortly after noon when making the sharp right turn from Cornerview Street. The truck owned by Hornady Transportation of Monroeville, Ala. was driven by Steve Sanders, who was uninjured in the accident. The Gonzales Fire and Police departments built a dyke in front of the cab to prevent diesel and oil from runoff into the ground. Ascension Auto Carriers and American Towing were on the scene to remove the 18-wheeler from the ditch.  Bricks were still fastened in place on the trailer at press time.
