Area railroad crossing closures announced

Joe Tureau, area engineer with the Department of Transportation, Monday released the following schedule of road closures this week at railroad crossings in the area.

• Monday, June 7 - Railroad Street just south of La. 22 in Sorrento

• Wednesday, June 9 - La. 939 (Purpera Road) in Gonzales

• Thursday, June 10 - La. 429 (Ascension Street) near the Country Kitchen Restaurant in Gonzales

• In each instance, the road will be closed at the railroad crossing from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tureau said.
