The St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department recently held its Annual Installation of Officers banquet.

The banquet was dedicated to former Fire Chief & President Virgil James LeBlanc who passed away on May 31, 2009.

Chief Virgil LeBlanc was a former Fire Chief and President for several years for the Prairieville Volunteer Fire Department.

LeBlanc was the father of current St. Amant Fire Chief James E. LeBlanc.

During the Banquet, Chief James E. LeBlanc spoke about the dedication and care that his father had for the Prairieville Community.

The LeBlanc family was also presented with a plaque for the dedication.

“The St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department is comprised of extremely dedicated members who have unselfishly given of themselves day and night over the past year all while conducting themselves as true professionals even in the most trying situations,” stated Chief James E. LeBlanc.

“With this said I am confident our Fire Department has and will continue to overcome the challenges placed upon us while continuing to provide the best possible service to our community. I would like to thank the membership for their continued support, commitment and service to Ascension Parish,” Chief LeBlanc continued. “I would also like to take a moment to thank the families and loved ones of our members, without your sacrifices and understanding our members would not be able to make this Fire Department the great organization it is.”
