Kandace Boudreaux, Melanie Parker end high school careers as all-stars

Melanie Parker and Kandace Boudreaux will bridge their high school careers into college soon, but first they will appear in the Louisiana High School Coaches Association All-Star games this weekend at Louisiana College in Pineville.

The St. Amant seniors will get an opportunity to join the best softball players in the state before heading to college.

Parker will transition to LSU-Eunice, while Boudreaux will play for Nicholls State. As an outfielder for the Gators, Parker hit .472 with 10 home runs and 42 RBIs.

Boudreaux played both second base and shortstop for St. Amant, as she compiled a .411 average with seven home runs and 36 RBIs.

The all-star event will include the top players from across the state. The East squad includes:?Meghan Patterson, Mt. Carmel; Hannah Laborde, West Ouachita; Jaycee Blades, Parkview Baptist; Laura Ricciardone, Pope John Paul; Grace Thaxton, Ouachita Christian; Ariel Hector, Monterey; Kirstie Hines, Claiborne Christian; Alanna DiVittorio, Mt. Carmel; Sidney Williams, West Monroe; Natalie Fernandez, Live Oak; Katie Roux, Denham Springs; Paige Parker, Grant; Kelby Smith, Ruston; Courtney Western, St. Charles; Keri Zeringue, Lutcher; and Kari Kelone, Pineville.

The West includes:?Prophet Gaspard, St. Thomas More; Kim Kennedy, Sam Houston; Lauren Jolivette, Catholic-New Iberia; Emily Trahan, Vermilion Catholic; Jessica Taylor, Oak Hill; Amy Beth Johnson, Starks; Savanah Havord, South Beauregard; Lacy Blanchard, Captain Shreve; Pam Wainwright, Sam Houston; Stephanie Jaeger, Haughton; Kaitlin Kates, Berwick; Christina Hamilton, Rosepine; Courtney Hebert, South Beauregard; Logane Fuselier, Oberlin; Jaci Trahan, Delcambre; and Chelsea Allen, Vandebilt Catholic.

The All-Star games get started Friday night. Introductions of teams and coaches are scheduled for 7:15 p.m. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. for the first game.

The action will continue Saturday afternoon. Introductions are set for 12:45 p.m. The second game is set for 1 p.m.
