East Ascension gets one back from St. Amant

East Ascension senior Alec Singletary earned his fifth win on the mound in a 4-1 victory over St. Amant Tuesday night at Johnny Ambeau Park. He went seven innings and struck out 11 batters.

After St. Amant claimed a 7-1 win over East Ascension Saturday, the Spartans took a 4-1 victory Tuesday.

Spartans senior Alec Singletary (5-4) earned the win as he pitched the complete game. He picked up 11 strikeouts in the game, as he held the Gators to one run on two hits.

St. Amant had a rough night batting as Dillon Morin and Lee Elisar were the only Gators to log hits. Both went 1-for-3.

St. Amant senior Derrick Savoy pitched for the Gators, who dropped to an 18-13 record. St. Amant fell to 7-4 in District 6-5A.

The Spartans improved to 15-15 and 4-7 in district.

East Ascension sophomore Chris Sanchez picked up two RBIs.

Senior Austin Todd went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The Spartans jumped out to a 3-0 lead by the second inning. Both teams added a run in the sixth before Singletary held off the Gators in the top of the seventh to end the game.

East Ascension will travel to district-leading Destrehan Saturday.

The Spartans close out the regular season schedule with a pair of games against Dutchtown. East Ascension will make a trip to Geismar Monday to face the Griffins, and will host the same team in Gonzales Wednesday.

St. Amant will host Hahnville Saturday. The Gators close out the season against Destrehan. They will travel for the first game, which is set for Monday. The Gators return home Wednesday for the final game.
