St. Amant crushes three home runs in 15-0 rout of West Jefferson

St. Amant sophomore Whitney Troxclair blasts a home run in the Gators’ 15-0 win Tuesday over visiting West Jefferson in the opening round of the Class 5A state softball playoffs.

Seeded No. 1 in the Class 5A state pairings, St. Amant made a statement by coasting to a 15-0 win over No. 32 West Jefferson Tuesday in the bi-district round.

The Gators took three innings to put away West Jefferson, scoring three runs in the first, ten in the second and two in the fourth.

The Gators collected three home runs in the game.

Senior Melanie Parker, junior Falynn Rouyea and sophomore Whitney Troxclair each had hits sail over the wall at Gator Park.

Parker and Rouyea went 2-for-2. Troxclair was 1-for-3. The trio accounted for 12 RBIs.

Senior pitcher Aime Parent (26-5) handcuffed West Jefferson, holding the team to only one hit.

Parent struck out six of the nine batters she faced.

She also contributed in the batter’s box by  putting down two key bunts.

With the win, St. Amant advances to the regional round.

The Gators will host No. 16 seed Central Thursday at 4 p.m.

Central held off No. 17 Pineville this week in a 2-1 game.
