GEISMAR – Dutchtown made light work of Mandeville in the opening round of the state Class 5A playoffs, as the Griffins claimed a 15-0 win in three innings.

Pitcher Alexi Reynolds allowed just one hit, as she struck out eight of the ten batters she faced.

She had more than enough run support, as the Griffins piled on ten in the first inning. A four-run second and a run in the third put the game away for Dutchtown.

Carey Alexis, Brione Winey and Hannah Bergeron each had hits for the Griffins.

Alexis and Winey both batted in two runs.

Tia Patterson had three runs, while Akela Gordon, Faydra Hall and Justine Tureau each had two. Jade Bourgeois, Hayden Wood, Alexis, Winey and Bergeron had one run each.

Mandeville finished with four errors.

No. 11 seed Dutchtown moves to the regionals against the winner of the St. Thomas More and Chalmette bidistrict game.
