NEW?ORLEANS – They may not be household names, but they played their roles well in the New Orleans Saints’ Super Bowl season, and now, they will appear on the 2010 roster.

The Saints recently signed offensive tackles Jermon Bushrod and Zach Streif, tight end David Thomas, safety Chris Reis and defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove.

Remi Ayodele, also a defensive tackle, is reportedly expected to sign a tender as well. His shining moment came in the Saints’ home win against the New York Jets when he recovered a fumble for a touchdown.

Bushrod started at left tackle last season, but with Jammal Brown expected to return, Bushrod’s depth-chart status is unclear. Brown had been a starter before he was sidelined by surgeries.

Thomas proved his value last season as he took snaps at tight end and as a lead blocker in the backfield.

Thomas, who played previously for the New England Patriots, caught a career-high 35 passes and one touchdown.

Strief, a five-year veteran, started two games last season. He has shown his versatility as a tackle and blocking tight end in certain situations.

Hargrove started six games and tallied five sacks last season. He had been signed over the last offseason after serving a one-year suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy for a third time.

Reis has made most of his contributions on special teams. He was credited with recovering the onsides kick to start the second half of Super Bowl XLIV.
