St. Amant edges Dutchtown, 2-1

St. Amant senior Dylan Delaune improved to 8-3 on the mound as the Gators took a 2-1 win Saturday.

GEISMAR – St. Amant took a 2-1 win Saturday night in a key District 6-5A at Dutchtown.

St. Amant (16-11, 6-2) claimed a second victory of the season over Dutchtown (19-9, 3-5). The Gators will have a chance to sweep when the two teams face off again Thursday at St. Amant.

Gators senior Dylan Delaune (8-3) pitched his fifth complete game in 10 starts.

Griffins junior Jacob Williams also had a strong showing despite picking up the loss. He compiled four perfect innings prior to St. Amant’s Tyler Guillory hitting a lead-off double to open the fifth inning.

Dillon Morin went 2-for-3 with an RBI?and a run, and Lee Elisar hit a double for an RBI to lead the Gators in hitting.

Britt Gautreaux hit a triple to drive in Troy Lewis for Dutchtown’s lone run of the game.

Alex Thibodeaux finished 2-for-3 for the Griffins.
