Area teams in middle of district schedules

After Dutchtown gave East Ascension its fifth loss in District 6-5A play last week, Spartans coach Wayne Grenfell said his team needed a win to get back back on track.
That win came this week when the Spartans rallied to claim an 8-4 win over Hahnville.
After taking a 3-0 lead in the third inning, Hahnville put up four runs in the fourth. East Ascension then added five unanswered runs to take the victory.
East Ascension senior Alec Singletary (3-3) picked up the win on the mound.
Cody Daffron finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs, Chris Sanchez went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Austin Todd tallied two doubles on 2-for-3 hitting.
The Spartans, like the rest of the area teams, are hoping to finish strong as they head into the second half of the district schedule.
A few miles to the east of Gonzales, St. Amant extended its district record to 5-1 with a 6-1 win over East St. John.
Gators senior Dylan Delaune improved to 7-3 on the mound, as East St. John was held to three hits.
Tyler Guillory hit a home run and collected three RBIs for the Gators.
Dillon Morin had a double and an RBI.
The Gators improved to a 15-10 record heading into Saturday’s game at Dutchtown.
Destrehan (15-9, 6-0) notched a 9-2 win this week over the Griffins.
Court Schwing (3-3) took the loss for Dutchtown.
Steven Bright led the Griffins in hitting, as he batted in both runs.
Britt Gautreaux finished 2-for-3 with a double.
Dutchtown (19-7, 3-3) will look to get back its winning district record Saturday against parish rivals St. Amant.
In District 8-1A, Ascension Christian dropped a 6-4 game to West St. John this week.
Ascension Catholic took a 10-2 win over St. John.
The Bulldogs remain undefeated in district play with a 6-0 record.
Charles Caballero (6-1) picked up the win on the mound, and hit three RBIs.
Tyler Simoneaux also had three RBIs.
Taylor Marcello went 2-for-4 with two runs, a triple and an RBI.
Ascension Catholic will host Christian Life Saturday.
