EA’s Pitts wins high jump at LHSAA?Indoor state meet

BATON?ROUGE?– East Ascension’s Lynnika Pitts won the individual state title in the high jump for the second consecutive year at LSU’s Carl Maddox Fieldhouse Saturday.

Pitts jumped 5-07 to claim the title and also placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 37-10 1/2.

Lafayette won the Division I girls overall title with 81 points.? Dutchtown placed seventh with 19 points followed by East Ascension with 18.

On the boys side, Catholic won the team title with 92 points. Dutchtown placed 11th with 16 points.

Donaldsonville’s Devon Breaux also won the Division II boys high jump with a leap of 6-02. Breaux also placed third in the long jump clearing 21-05.

Dutchtown’s Shaquille Brown placed runner-up in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:58.81.

Dutchtown’s April Tasker placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 36-08, was fourth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.01 and sixth in the long jump with a leap of 16-08.

Dutchtown’s Shelby Jones placed fourth in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 5:34.71.

Donaldsonville’s Justin Breaux placed fourth in the Division II 55-meter dash with a time of 6.58.

Dutchtown’s Effrem Reed took fifth place in the Division I 55-meter dash with a time of 6.64  while Donaldsonville’s Titus Howard placed fourth in the Division II?55-meter hurdles with a time of 8:07.

Dutchtown’s Raven Sims was fifth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.40 and also took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 17-06.

Dutchtown’s 4x800 meter boys relay team of Brown, Chris Thompson, Morgen Christ and Blake Dowdy also placed third in 8:46.39.

Donaldsonville’s boys 4x200 meter relay team of Breaux, Shaqueel Babin, Jordan Rosemond and Jevonta Wilson placed fourth in 1:33.47.
