Friendship Jr., Ernest

A native of New Orleans and a resident of Geismar, he died at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at Promise Hospital in Baton Rouge. He was 60. Interment in New Jerusalem Cemetery, St. Gabriel.

Jackson, Madeline Briley “Mat”

A retired teacher with the Ascension Parish school system and a resident and native of Geismar, she died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. She was 42.  Interment in the First Pilgrim Calvary Missionary Baptist Church cemetery, Geismar.  She was a graduate of East Ascension High School and Southern University. She was an outstanding Head Start teacher.

Murphy, Marjorie Agnes Salassi

A homemaker and a native and resident of French Settlement, she passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, in French Settlement. She was 88. Entombment in St. Joseph Catholic Church mausoleum.

Trabeau, Dwain Paul

A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Sorrento, he died early Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at Ochsner Medical Center. He was 57 and retired from Union Pacific Railroad with more than 20 years of service. Burial will follow in Whitehall Cemetery in Maurepas.

Stein, Merlice M.

A retired boilermaker and a resident of Prairieville, he died at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Lakewood Quarters. He was 85, an Army veteran and a native of White Castle. A graveside service will be held at Hope Haven Cemetery, Prairieville.

Walker, Sammy Eugene

A native of Denham Springs and a resident of Prairieville, he passed away at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales. He was 63. Burial will follow in Palmetto Cemetery, Walker.
