Dutchtown defeats Spartans for fifth at St. Amant Duals
ST. AMANT – Dutchtown defeated East Ascension 46-35 in a finals pairing to take fifth place at the St. Amant Duals Saturday afternoon.
Host St. Amant topped Central 34-33 in their finals pairing for seventh place in the wrestling meet.
Catholic won the meet by taking a 54-14 victory in the championship pairing, while Live Oak defeated Zachary 54-24 in the final pairings for third place.
Dutchtown picked up five pins in their final dual to East Ascension’s five.
The Griffins fell to St. Michael 61-15 to open the day before rebounding to defeat Central 53-27 and falling to Live Oak 45-32.
East Ascension opened the duals with a 58-22 victory over St. Amant before dropping Chalmette 46-19. The Spartans then lost 39-37 to Zachary and Catholic 63-10.
St. Amant rebounded to defeat Chalmette 60-17 before losing to Catholic 60-15 and Zachary 51-24.
EA’s Austen Waguespack pinned Aaron Carbo in nine seconds at 112 pounds of the final dual before Dutchtown’s Dallas Chenevert pinned Manual Luna in 2:08 at 119 pounds.
Dutchtown’s Matthew Hamilton then won a 16-8 decision over James Rawls to reflect the final tally.
Dutchtown’s Ryan Davis pinned Keith Fort to open the dual in 5:44 at 130 pounds before Austin Gravelle pinned EA’s Zach Roy in 41 seconds at 135 pounds.
East Ascension’s Dallas Chenevert then pinned Taylor Gesick in 3:28 at 140 pounds before Normand Bougere pinned Dutchtown’s Mazon?Schexnaydre in 49 seconds at 145 pounds.
Scott Bosworth of East Ascension pinned Dutchtown’s Victor Mattaur in 3:45 at 160 pounds before teammate Adam Alfred pinned Joey?McCaffery in 1:20 at 171 pounds.
Dutchtown’s Trevor?Setoon pinned Hunter Waguespack in 1:02 at 189 pounds before teammate Zach Hill pinned East Ascension’s Graham Karwarth in two minutes at 285 pounds.
East Ascension’s Jon Karrer won by forfeit at 215 pounds, while Dutchtown’s Ahmad Henry and Ryan Reames won by forfeits at 152 pounds and 103 pounds.
St. Amant forfeited weight classes at 130-40 pounds against Central before Jacob Lindekugel won a forfeit match at 145 pounds.
Hakeen Brooks fell to Central’s Brian Johnson in 40 seconds at 152 pounds before Brett Howell won an 11-5 decision over Tyler Hardin at 160 pounds.
St. Amant’s Jeremy Huff pinned Tanner Willis in 1:50 at 171 pounds before Brennan Howell pinned Tim Ourso in 1:35 at 215 pounds.
Jamal Laymoun then pinned Central’s Tommy Garcia in 1:23 at 285 pounds before St. Amant’s Ryan Burleigh lost a 26-12 decision to Nathan Milazzo at 103 pounds.
St. Amant’s Derrian Paxton pinned Van Guarino in 35 seconds at 112 pounds before Logan Comeaux was pinned by Central’s Evan Hebert in 38 seconds at 119 pounds.
Alex LaValley won by forfeit at 125 pounds for St. Amant.
Austen Waguespack defeated Paxton 8-0 earlier in the day before Luna topped Comeaux 2-0 and LaValley bested Rawls 7-5.
Lindenkugel defeated Bougere 15-1, before Bosworth won a 7-1 decision over Andrew Allemand. Alfred then defeated Brett Howell 12-4 before Karrer bested Huff 4-2.
Brennan Howell won 2-0 over Hunter Waguespack before Karwath and Laymoun were tied 4-4.
Dutchtown picked up wins by Webber, Davis, Gesick, Henry, Medine and Hill against St. Michael, while Carbo, Chenevert, Hamilton, Davis, Gravelle, Gesick, Mattaur, Medine and Hill won against Central. Providing wins against Live Oak were Carbo, Reames, Chenevert, Gravelle, Gesick and Hill.
St. Amant picked up wins by Burleigh, Paxton, Comeaux, LaValley, Lindekugel, Brooks, Brett Howell, Huff, Brennan Howell and Laymoun against Chalmette, while Paxton, LaValley and Brett Howell were the only winners against Catholic. Providing wins against Zachary were Comeaux, LaValley,?Lindekugel and Brennan Howell.
East Ascension picked up wins by Austen Waguespack, Luna, Fort, Roy, Bougere, Bosworth, Alfred and Karwarth against Chalmette, while Waguespack, Luna, Rawls, Fort, Roy, Alfred, Karrer and Karwarth won against Zachary. Providing wins against Catholic were Waguespack and Rawls.
