Dilldine wins 200-meter freestyle

BATON?ROUGE – Dutchtown’s Alyssa Dilldine won the 200-meter freestyle to lead the local contingent at the Capital City Swim League Championships Sunday afternoon at LSU’s Natatorium.

Dilldine won in a time of 1:56.79 ahead of St. Joseph’s Lauren Petit who touched in 2:03.26. East Ascension’s Hannah Core was third in 2:05.42.

Core also placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.83 behind Baton Rouge’s Joanne Chien who touched in 24.07.

Dilldine also took second in the 500-yard freestyle, taking a brief lead in the longest race,  with a time of 5:05.82, just behind University’s Katherine Miles who touched in 5:05.01.

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association State Swim Meet for Division I will be held Friday at SPAR Aquatic Center in Sulphur.

Dutchtown placed seventh in overall standings in girls’ team scores with 115 points followed by East Ascension in eighth with 107 points. St. Joseph’s won, followed by University and Episcopal. St. Amant finished 13th.

Dutchtown’s?Charles Doofe placed third in both the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly with times of 2:05.77 and 56.76.

The Griffins placed 11th in overall standings with 75 points. Catholic won the team title followed by Baton Rouge and Lutcher. St. Amant placed 14th and East Ascension was 18th.

East Ascension’s Gabrielle Core was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.79 and sixth in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:08.60.

St. Amant’s Lara Hutchinson placed ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke touching in 1:19.04 and was 12th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.46.

Bridget Champagne of St. Amant placed 10th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:10.50.

Dutchtown’s McCall Blank took 11th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.23 and was 14h in the 100-yard backstroke touching in 1:13.48.

Sara Lessard of Dutchtown also was 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:21.28.

St. Amant’s Daniel Hernandez took 13th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.44.

Dutchtown’s Jay Karasuik was 16th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:11.90.

East Ascension’s Logan Viverito was 19th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 7:58.45.

Dutchtown’s team of Dilldine, Blank, Lessard and Caroline May placed eighth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:08.91, while East Ascension’s team of Gabrielle Core, Megan Delatte, Kacy Haydel and Hope Ramoin was 14th in 2:22.80 and St.?Amant’s team of Hutchinson, Amanda Jackson, Allie Faucheaux and Cydney Walters took 15th in 2:24.26.

St. Amant’s team of Hernandez, Trey Crews and John Blanchard was 11th in the boys’ 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:00.49, while Dutchtown’s team of Doofe, Karasuik and Eric Ferrell placed 12th in 2:00.73 and East Ascension’s team of Thomas?Turner, Matt Chenevert,?Robert Hall and Michael Plaisance was 17th in 2:18.94.
