Bid awarded for overlay on Hwy. 429

BATON ROUGE – Barber Bros. Contracting Co. received a $1,665,441 bid letting award to install drainage pipe, asphalt overlay, pavement patching and related work on Hwy. 429 from Hwy. 73 to Hwy. 44 in Ascension Parish.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development considered bids totaling more than $76 million at its Aug. 26 public bid opening, according to Gov. Bobby Jindal and DOTD Secretary William D. Ankner, Ph.D.

With a bid of $26,679,003.40, James Construction Group LLC, Baton Rouge, was the low bidder on the most expensive job, a project in Terrebonne Parish calling for installing drainage pipe, asphalt overlay, installing a lift span bridge and related work to replace the Prospect Street Bridge.
