Congressman Bill Cassidy receives applause as he begins a town-hall meeting at Dutchtown High School Monday evening. A Republican and doctor from Baton Rouge, his district includes a portion of Ascension Parish.

Congressman Bill Cassidy, who represents the greater Baton Rouge area in the sixth district, addressed a standing-room-only crowd Monday evening at Dutchtown High School.

The Republican physician from Baton Rouge spoke about health care issues and reform prior to taking questions from the crowd.

According to recent news reports from across the nation, some representatives have been met with protests and even some hostility during similarly styled meetings. Confrontations at other events reportedly have included shouting and shoving.

Cassidy, on the other hand, seemed to be welcomed by like-minded individuals. His ideas for reform frequently were met with applause.
