He died Monday afternoon, Aug. 10, 2009, at Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center in New Orleans. A native of Gonzales, he was born April 12, 1925. Visitation at Holy Spirit Church, 6201 Stratford Place, New Orleans, on Friday, Aug. 14, from 10 a.m. until a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment in Jesuit cemetery at St. Charles College in Grand Coteau.

Hood, Fochette Mury “Shootie”

A native of Vacherie and a resident of Donaldsonville, she died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, in Baton Rouge.  Entombment in the Ascension of Our Lord Mausoleum.

Landry, Kirk Paul

A retired Donaldsonville firefighter with 27 years of service, having served as fire chief from 1992-04, passed away at Prevost Memorial Hospital, Donaldsonville, on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009. He was 51 and a native and resident of Donaldsonville. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial in Ascension Catholic Cemetery.

Lindsey II, Russell C.

A native of Alexandria, he died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at his residence in Gonzales. He was 52 and a retired employee from East Ascension Telephone Co. (Eatel) with 32 years of service. Burial was private.

Rachal, James Darrin

He died passed unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, after a car accident on La. 74 in St. Gabriel. He was native of Dallas and a resident of Prairieville. He was 40, born on July 5, 1969. Interment in Oak Lane Memorial Park, Prairieville.

Washington,Emma Christy

A cook and housekeeper, she died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at her home in Baton Rouge. She was 100 and a native of Prairieville. Visiting at New Rising Sun Baptist Church, 16444 Highland Road, on Friday, Aug. 14, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Interment in Cain Cemetery.

Picou, Julie

A resident of St. Amant, she died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at her home. She was 63. Burial in Whitehall Cemetery, Whitehall.
