The Cancer Program of OLOL and Mary Bird Perkins offers free prostate cancer screenings

Staff reports

BATON ROUGE – Prostate cancer awareness is important during any month but especially during September, the month designated as National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in men.

During September, free screenings are offered to the public in hopes of reaching as many men as possible.

The following is a list of free prostate cancer screenings being offered by the Cancer Program of Our Lady of the Lake and Mary Bird Perkins.

These screenings are for men age 45 and older who do not have a doctor or have not been screened in the past 12 months. The prostate screening is performed by a physician and includes a PSA blood test and physical exam.
