NOAA predicts 9 to 14 tropical storms this season

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecasts nine to14 named tropical storms this season.

Named storms are expected to include four to seven hurricanes of which one to three are likely to be major hurricanes.

Last year there were 16 named storms, with eight being hurricanes and five being major.

Hurricane season starts June 1.
