Jury indicts man on aggravated rape of victim under 13

A grand jury indicted a Paulina man April 20 in a case of aggravated rape on a victim under 13 years old.

The jury met in St. James Parish to consider the case involving 36-year-old Christopher Smith, according to a release from the 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

The St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Smith Dec. 19, 2008, the release said.

Upon deliberation, the jury returned a True Bill of Indictment.

Assistant District Attorney Bruce G. Mohon presented the case to the jury.
