Bond Commission approves $10 million for Ascension

BATON ROUGE – The State Bond Commission approved $15 million for projects in the Baton Rouge area Thursday, including $10 million for Ascension Parish, according to State Treasurer John Kennedy.

The  bonds for the Ascension Parish Council, Sales Tax District No. 2 to refinance debt will save taxpayers $280,098, Kennedy said.

The approval is conditional upon the entity meeting its savings threshold prior to closing, Kennedy said.

“The Bond Commission approved projects statewide ranging from public works improvements and debt refinancings to affordable housing opportunities,” the treasurer said. “In addition, more than $42,000 in GO Zone funding was approved for continued hurricane recovery and rebuilding.”

Also in the Baton Rouge area, the commission approved $3.25 million in bonds (preliminary approval) for Iberville Parish, Waterworks District No. 2 for waterworks system improvements..

In West Baton Rouge Parish, the Town of Addis received preliminary approval of $1.75 million in bonds for sewerage system improvements.

The commission also gave preliminary approval for $150 million in bonds for the Louisiana Public Facilities Authority (Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System Project) for a replacement hospital for the existing Lourdes Medical Center in Lafayette; improvements and renovations to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge; and the development of satellite outpatient facilities in Livingston Parish.
