Donations gathered for troops overseas

Michael Tortorich

An area motorcycle group is showing its appreciation to the nation’s troops by providing some of the comforts of home to those serving overseas.

The Baton Rouge Chapter of the Harley Owners’ Group, known as H.O.G., has some 200 members. They meet monthly on the first Saturday of the month at 9 a.m. at the Harley-Davidson/Buell of Baton Rouge dealership on Siegen Lane.

Giving back to the community is a top priority for the group.

Terresa Stafford of St. Amant is the membership officer for the group. She recently collected several items to send in packages to U.S. troops serving overseas.

In order to support the group, the Gonzales Weekly Citizen donated 150 copies of recent issues. The group also received copies of the Ascension Gumbo magazine.

The area chapter also visits veterans’ homes, participates in charity motorcyle rides and conducts toy runs during Christmas time.
