WEATHER ALERT: Area under tornado watch

This National Weather Service map shows the area under a tornado watch until 1 a.m. Friday, March 27. The tornado watch area is in yellow. The orange area is under a severe thunderstorm warning, as of Thursday at 9:02 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for 22 parishes in southeastern Louisiana until 1 a.m. Friday.

A slight risk of severe thunderstorms continues across southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi, according to the service.

The 22 parishes in the watch are Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Jefferson, Lafourche, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne, Washington, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana.

In southern Mississippi, the watch includes Amite, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River, Pike, Walthall and Wilkinson counties.
