Teenager of the Year honored

The Ascension Parish Council honored Chelsea Davis at their March 5 meeting for being named the Donaldsonville Chamber of Commerce’s Teenager of the Year.

Davis received a certificate of achievement from Parish President Tommy Martinez and the council for her “outstanding academic and community service contributions to Ascension Parish,” according to parish spokesperson Ami C. Johnson.

Davis, a senior at Donaldsonville High School, has a 3.9 grade point average and is active in the Beta Club, band, dance team, choir and student council.

She is the recipient of the 2007-08 Greater Baton Rouge State Fair Scholarship, was nominated for the 2006 Congressional Student Leadership Conference and Who’s Who American High School Students. She is also active in her church community.
