Lamar Dixon to host 30th Annual Louisiana Sportsman’s Show and Festival this weekend
The 30th Annual Louisiana Sportsmen's Show and Festival returns to the Lamar Dixon Expo Center March 13-15. Show producer Bob Del Giorno emphasizes that the likely closure of the center will not affect this year’s show.
“While it looks as though the Lamar Dixon Expo Center will be closing its doors, any closure won’t take place until June,” said Del Giorno. “This year’s show will absolutely go on as scheduled. We plan to give the Expo Center a great ‘goodbye’ with our best show yet.”
The shows’ hours or from 2 - 9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday. General admission is $8 for adults and $5 for kids.
The event is Louisiana's original sport fishing, hunting and boating show offering the general public the largest and newest selection of sport fishing gear, boats and hunting equipment at special Show prices.
The heart of the Sportsmen’s Show will always be hunting and fishing. This year’s show features hundreds of booths filled with everything for outdoor pleasure including the largest and newest selection of sport fishing, boat, and hunting equipment from national manufacturers. With something for everyone who loves the outdoors, the Sportsmen’s Show creates one of the biggest market places for all services and products related to Louisiana’s great outdoors.
Sportsmen’s Show Producer Bob Del Giorno noted that interest in guided hunting and fishing adventures has grown tremendously among Louisiana sportsmen, and that interest is reflected in the show’s exhibitors. “The show offers a unique chance for sportsmen and women to personally meet dozens of fishing guides and outfitters who can plan trips in Louisiana or around the world,” said Del Giorno. “Anyone planning a guided outdoor vacation will find tremendous resources at this year’s show.” A number of Louisiana Tourist Commissions will also be on hand, providing information on outdoor activities across the state along with free maps, brochures, and other information.
Del Giorno noted that the most popular exhibits and personalities from last year return, including fishing and hunting seminars, live skeet shooting exhibitions, live Cajun and bluegrass music, and the outdoor food court and carnival midway.
Several new show additions offer fun for the whole family. New entertainment exhibits this year include the Sportsmen’s Lumberjack Competition, featuring log rolling, log cutting and more, and the thrilling Maximum Velocity BMX Competition, featuring gravity defying stunts by BMX performers.
