Boating safety class offered

A free safe boating class will be offered by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries at Cabela’s in Gonzales.
The class will require attendance both nights – March 16 and 17 – from 5 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
The course is designed to be an introduction for recreational boaters. The class is required for anyone born after Jan. 1, 1988 before they can operate a motorized vessel with an engine larger than ten horsepower.
Class space is limited by 30 people and pre-registration is required. To pre-register, call 225-765-2999.

There is a $15 fee associated with testing.
The Baton Rouge Power Squadron and the Coast Guard Auxiliary also offer the safety class.
