Spisak awarded Army medal

Army National Guard Sgt. John A. Spisak has been decorated with the Army Achievement Medal.

The medal is awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces, who while serving in any capacity with the Army have distinguished themselves by meritorious service or achievement while serving in a combat or non-combat area.

Spisak is a property book supervisor with the 204th Theater Airfield Operations Group at the Army Aviation Support Facility, Hammond.

He is the son of Helen A. Spisak of Stafford Drive, Elyria, Ohio. His wife, Karen, is the daughter of Sue Teel of Gonzales

The sergeant is a 1991 graduate of Elyria High School.
