DOTD lets bid in Donaldsonville

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development considered bids totaling more than $49 million at its Jan. 28 public bid opening, according to Gov. Bobby Jindal and DOTD Secretary William D. Ankner.

With a bid of $16,789,962.53, Gilchrist Construction Co. LLC, Alexandria, was the apparent low bidder on the most expensive job let Jan. 28, a project in Vernon Parish calling for clearing and grubbing, installing drainage pipe, asphalt overlay, pavement patching and related work to widen La. 28 from two to four lanes from La. 465 to the Rapides Parish line.

The only bid in Ascension Parish in January was in Donaldsonville for construction of concrete sidewalks and related work along Hwy. 18 from just west of Railroad Avenue to Lessard Avenue. Chambers Construction Co. Inc., Prairieville was awarded the $218,755.38 contract.
