Gov. Jindal announces appointment of Louque

BATON ROUGE – Gov. Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Joel Louque to the Board of Commissioners of the Amite River Basin Drainage and Water Conservation District.

The commission serves to govern all flood control, public drainage and water resources development, reservoirs and diversion canals in the district.

According to statute, the board is comprised of 13 gubernatorial appointments, subject to senate confirmation. One member is appointed from the district at-large and the remaining twelve members consist of two representatives from each parish within the district selected from nominations submitted by their respective legislators.

Louque, of St. Amant, is a veteran of the United States Air Force, a marine consultant, and serves on the board of the St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department. Louque will serve as a representative of Ascension Parish, as required by statute.
