Donaldsonville Mental Health Center relocates

BATON ROUGE – The Capital Area Human Services District will relocate the Donaldsonville Mental Health Center to the Donaldsonville Public Health Unit at 901 Catalpa St. effective Jan. 13, according to a release.

The outpatient facility provides treatment for Ascension Parish residents who meet criteria for public services. The center provides mental health services to both adults and children who have behavioral disorders or who are severely and chronically mentally ill. Services include: screening, evaluation, counseling, medication management and community referrals. Patients may receive care from physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, clinical social workers, counselors and psychologists.

Fees are assessed on a sliding fee scale based on ability to pay. The scale is based on family income and total number of individuals in the household who are dependent on that income. Medicaid, Medicare and some private insurances are accepted.

Residents in need of services are asked to make an initial appointment by contacting CAHSD’s Gonzales Mental Health Center at 225-621-5770. Follow up appointments are then scheduled at the Donaldsonville location.
